SKILLS AND DRILLS MINI CAMP
The Skills and Drills Mini Camp serves as an opportunity for participating campers to receive detailed individual, small group, and positional instruction from multiple Coaching Staff members of the Severn School Boys Basketball Program. Many segments of the camp simulate skill development periods that are routine during in season practice sessions at Severn. The camp consists of station work that focuses on the nuances of the game that will allow for players to enhance their understanding and ability to be affective in live five on five situations. The camp is designed towards athletes who have experience in playing and are looking to improve their skill set as they head into the summer and upcoming basketball season with their respective teams. (Rising 6th-10th Grade Campers)
DAY CAMP SESSIONS
Day Camp Sessions at Severn Basketball Academy are conducive for all skill levels of participants. At the beginning of the week, campers are placed in age and skill appropriate leagues which allows for fair and competitive play during our five-on-five games. Campers will learn a specific fundamental skill each day, participate in skill stations, compete in individual and small group contests, hear from guest speakers, have practice time with their camp coaches and teammates, as well as compete in league games and a playoff. Players from our current High School Program at Severn serve as the court coaches for campers and members of our coaching staff as well as former Severn Basketball Alum serve as our league commissioners. Friday serves as our Championship Day where campers compete in the finals for various skill and small group competitions. League playoffs are also on Friday. At the conclusion of our final championship game (roughly 2:40 pm) we hold our Awards Ceremony to celebrate the various team and individual achievements of the campers. There is a lunch period daily during our Day Camp Sessions. Pizza can be purchased from our snack bar along with other snacks and drinks including Gatorade, Chips, Candy, Cookies, etc. (Rising 1st- 10th)
TRUE SHOOTING CAMP
True Shooting Camp specifically focuses on the fundamentals of shooting the basketball. Campers build their shot through an acronym that our Coaches use called B.E.E.F. (Balance, Eyes, Elbow, Follow-Through). Campers will work on stationary shooting as well as shooting off the move. In addition, campers will learn how to create space to get their shot off in a game. Throughout True Shooting Camp, small competitions will be held for campers to utilize the skills that they are consistently working on in their stations. Members of the Severn Coaching staff will serve as counselors throughout the week. There is a brief snack period during the True Shooting Camp Session. The Snack Bar will be open for campers to purchase drinks and snacks during that break period. No pizza will be served. (Rising 1st – 9th)
